There are two things that could be slowing down the speed of your Globe Tattoo or SmartBro connection. The first, which you can fix quite simply, is signal quality. 3g based wireless broadband is very bad at passing through obstacles such as brick walls and trees. You should try to place your modem as high as possible and as close to a window as possible.

If you cannot place your laptop or desktop near a window, you should buy a usb extension cable that can reach to a window from where you’d like to use your computer. Alternatively you could buy a 3g wifi router and place that at the top of your house, beside a window. Then you can connect from anywhere in the house with a nice strong HSDPA signal.

The second thing that could be slowing down your browsing experience is traffic shaping. Unfortunately both Globe and Smart use traffic shaping to limit how fast you can surf, browse and even what services you can use (block torrents). The only way to get around these restrictions is to tunnel your connection through a remote server. You could do this with an SSH tunnel, a VPN or even a ping/DNS tunnel. Just be careful if you use any free public DNS or proxy servers, since these might be run by someone looking to harvest your passwords and personal details.

openDNS offer a free public DNS service, worldwide. They earn from corporate customers who pay for a high number of lookups and customised blocking services. Their servers provide both IPv4 and IPv6 data for any domain looked up. Although they’re only accessible via IPv4 right now.

The openDNS DNS IP addresses are:

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220

You can either update your router to use these IPs for your primary and secondary DNS or you can set your computer to use them. If you want everyone in your house or business to be funnelled through openDNS then you should do it on the router. This will allow you to make use of their blocking features to stop your kids from accessing naughty websites and your employees from wasting hours on social networking sites.

You can use DIG or NSLOOKUP to check the response times from the openDNS resolvers. Just be sure to query commonly requested domains like Facebook.com and less frequently requested domains, which are unlikely to be cached – such as rcpt.co.uk.

The pale pink, nude shade that looks frosted, warm and rich all at the same time has made its way to the luscious lips of today’s hottest Hollywood stars. Gone are the days of fire-engine red smirks, pastel pink pouts, mocha brown smiles, gothly dark purple giggles, and tangerine teeth flashers. They have been replaced with lips that are nude but still appear plump – tamed seduction, classy and playful, perfect for day and night. So how can this all-in-one look be achieved, you ask? Simply follow the steps below:

1. Generously apply a cherry-colored lip balm so that your lips will retain its moisture, as some lipsticks have ingredients that could discolor or dry up your lips.

2. Use a pink lipliner to trace the area where your lip meets skin. This border serves two purposes: first, it gives you a guide in lipstick application, making sure you don’t get that accidental mustache smudge. Second, it highlights the lip color, making it stand out thanks to the contrast.

3. Apply a thin coat frosted pink lipstick on your upper and lower lips, the shade must be almost platinum pink and intensely metallic.

4. Blend those pale lips properly by dabbing a shade of dark, dark violet above it to lessen the shine and up the plump factor.

5. Finish off the look a thin coat of with clear, shimmery lip gloss

The stock market is fascinating. After watching my parents go crazy with their brokers and suddenly celebrate or rejoice on the spot within a matter of minutes, this complicated but seemingly fascinating world of investments and trading has piqued my interest. It got me thinking, what if celebrities were stocks? I wonder whose stocks I’d buy from or invest in? Actually, actors have a strange parallelism to corporate stocks…

Apple Inc. is Brad Pitt: Their main selling points are their looks. They cannot perform very well, but everyone loves them.

Microsoft is Tom Cruise: At some point in history, they were on the top of their game and the top of the world. They could have done anything, breached any market, and seduced any company for any amount. But then came their demise. Microsoft’s was in the form of Vista, and Tom’s came from his own undoing by jumping on Oprah’s couches.

Google is Tiger Woods: Most people think they can beat them. They all come close, but only to find themselves puzzled at why they failed. Google was destined to rule the world wide web, while Tiger Woods seems to have sealed his fate in the world of golf – high time everyone else stops trying so hard to beat them!

There seems to be a new list surfacing everyday, picking out the cream of the crop in the Hollywood farm – richest, most powerful, most beautiful…and of course, the sexiest stars. E! News, FHM and People Magazine have all been notorious for those not so accurate year-end lists, but this time, we have a new list from the brand that practically created sexy – Victoria’s Secret. Ex-boyband lead singer Justin Timberlake made sexiest male musician who apparently did bring sexy back, “Sin City” scorcher Jessica Alba was crowned the sexiest actress, while David Beckham – wife to Posh Spice and daddy to their three sons made sexiest dad.

The list was created by Victoria’s Secret execs, designers and a handful of their top supermodels such as Heidi Klum. Its diversity extended from sexy entertainers and to sexy athletes, including other stars like Eric Dane who was the sexiest actor, Carrie Underwood for being JT’s opposite as the sexiest female musician, real life speed racer Danica Patrick as the sexiest female athlete and the superpower Jay-Z and Beyonce were deemed the sexiest couple.

Bad Feng Shui energy, or what is known in Chinese astrology as the Si Chi (“Si” means a downward movement while “Chi” means energy), is the negative vibration that kills the flow of energy in a home and within a person. This energy is essential for a person’s well-being and survival, and constantly attacking it and driving it away will do nothing but harm to a person’s psychological, emotional and mental health.

Si Chi is created when wrong Feng Shui practices are used in a house – for example, using the wrong Feng Shui colors or arranging the furniture in such a way where Chi is purposely blocked, during lowdial, prohibited or pushed out of the living space. Sharp angles, structural imbalances, dark colors, insufficient lighting and suffocating ventilation are all contributors to bad Feng Shui.
In time, Si Chi will convert from the lack of good energy to a downright bad energy or bad vibrations which is love, decaying, lifeless and may cause death of happiness and good fortune. People surrounded in Si Chi find themselves always depressed and extremely unhealthy.

Even though the Western pop culture has associated romance, passion and love with the color red, pink is the color of love that is universally accepted. Its tender, gentle nature that is ultimately feminine speaks of a mother’s unconditional love, a natural, innocent blush that creeps up one’s cheeks, and a little baby’s healthy glow. Pink releases delicate Feng Shui vibrations that have a been proven to give a soothing, relaxing effect on one’s behavior. As a matter of fact, the Feng Shui shade that is pink can literally soothe a person’s heart and fill it with love and happiness!

Pink should be most widely used in the areas that represent love and marriage, or the southwest area of a person’s living space. Being a part of the element of Fire, it can manifest energy and vibrations in wall colors, furniture or home decorations and accessories. Don’t just stick to the traditional shade of pink, too – couple it with Orange, another Fire element shade for an intense aura, or with other colors to mix yin with yang.

Gray is the shade of boredom, dullness, gloom, aging and neutral grounds. It is plain and simple; the midpoint of two very influential and meaningful shades that are black and white. Gray, in all its simplicity, can blend with any color, kicking it to the spotlight while it remains in the background and gos unnoticed. In Feng Shui, gray belong to the element of Metal and is best used in the west, northwest or north – the creativity and children, helpfulness and blessings and career and life paths, respectively.

Gray must be avoided in east and southeast areas, where Wood is the ruling element. Metal and Wood do not play well together, and in areas that are predominantly Wood, Gray or Metal can destroy these living spaces. The warmth of a gray shade containing a silver sparkle triggers clarity, beauty and pleasant Feng Shui energy in a person’s living room, home office or in the main entry of a house.

Green is the color of the environment, nature, health and life in general. Green is the Feng Shui color for a renewed life, a fresh energy source and most importantly, a new beginning. Being the other half of a tree, green just like brown belongs to the Wood element in Feng Shui. It brings good health, calms nerves and balances the human body by sending Feng Shui vibrations from the core of nature. The most important thing to remember when using green is that different shades must be utilized, because a monotonous green loses the lush foliage that evokes Feng Shui energy effects of health and wellness.

There are no rooms where green cannot be used; in fact, it is the most encouraged shade for walls and accents, next to yellow and blue. Open your eyes, rejuvenate your spirits, open up your living space, and renew your life with the healing Feng Shui powers brought about by the color green.

Purple is known as the color of royalty, wisdom and divine spirituality. It is a color that produces strong vibrations and, for those who know how to manipulate it, can create lasting connections to the spiritual realms – the unseen world of the undead, higher powers and the world which transcends physical interactions. In the world of Feng Shui, it is also a color of high vibrations that must be used sparingly.

Experts believe that having purple as a wall color or even having too much purple accessories and decors can cause blood diseases and have negative psychological effects, as well as invite negative energies to enter a person’s living space. The only places where purple can be used without moderation are healing rooms, meditation rooms or perhaps the bathroom, where one goes after each day to take a relaxing soak in the tub and, meditate without even knowing it.

Brown is the boring color that tells stories of old people, past events, decaying organisms and aging objects. Brown’s never been a hit with me, unless it’s in the form of leather boots. In home decoration and Feng Shui, brown is the color of the element Wood. It has a form of energy that nourishes the soul, like the calmness and relaxation we give our soul when drinking cups of gourmet coffee or dark chocolate, in rich swirling tones of dark brown.

In Feng Shui, brown is a good color for the main entrance, the kitchen, or even as an accent or feature wall in living rooms or bedrooms. However, be warned that too much brown can lead to a drop in ambition, a slowly deteriorating drive to achieve success in life, and an overall aura of laziness. Since it is a neutral color, brown can easily fit in with other shades and one can blend it well with other colors to provide a palette that gives out the energy for motivation.

Black is a mysterious shade of elegance, evil, sophistication, death and post-modern artsiness. The color of night time, deep waters and the missing piece from the universe, black hold the Feng Shui energy of tempting power and strong protection. The use of black can add the impression of depth and definition around the house.

It is ruled by the Feng Shui element of water and faces North in the Ba-Gua. This color must not be used above eye level, because it is known to bring the Feng Shui energy of stable foundations. It must generally be avoided in large amounts – no room in the house should be dominantly black, because the negative superstitions far outweigh the positive impressions it can bring to people’s minds. Use black as an accent to brighter, less gloomy colors as opposed to the main color of any space – try using black frames, furniture colors, linings, and streaks.

Red is undoubtedly the color of fire. The Fire element is a symbol of intense energy that can either be creative or destructive. Fire gives us life – warmth, light and heat – but at the same time its ability to wipe out entire villages and cause an alarming number of deaths in such a short span of time is undeniable. Just like anything else in life, balance is the key. A good balance with the use of red in the Feng Shui of your house will bring happiness, continuous excitement, passion, and even evoke feelings of sexual desire.

Use red in areas of the house where the Earth element is dominant, as fire is known to nourish the earth, but mixing fire with fire will just create an explosion. It’s not a good idea to use too much red in children’s rooms as it can create tantrums and evoke aggressive behavior. The best room for this color of seduction, sexuality and arousal? The bedroom, of course!

Orange is the color of a fire burning brightly, whether freshly ignited or close to burning out, this shade carries with it a strong personality that is not as intimidating as red, but not as approachable as yellow. In Feng Shui, orange is a very sociable color as it invites conversations and encourages disclosure of personal matters, channeling this openness with the social Feng Shui energy. Orange is a good color for places where relationships are built, such as the dining room or the area where guests are entertained, whether it is the outdoor patio or the living room.

Representing the fire element, orange is best in the areas of fame and reputation as well as love and marriage. According to the Ba-Gua, these would be the south and southwest areas. Keep in mind that orange must not be used to accent places where Metal is the predominant element, as fire is known to melt metal when the two elements clash.

Yellow is the color used to wake up sleepyheads and add sunshine into their days. It represents a rising sun, a new day and a warm, cheerful disposition. It always exudes a welcoming aura, whether used as the color of the walls of a room or worn by a person, yellow is easier to approach and enter. Feng Shui yellow is a tamed shade of the Fire element, not as fiery as red and not burning as brightly as orange.

Yellow is a good choice for the walls of children’s rooms, family rooms and indoor kitchens. Any dark room with very little light sources could definitely use more yellow, which can represent the sun in Feng Shui. In large quantities, yellow is easier on the eyes than other colors – especially red or black, which have strong “personalities”. I guess what they say is true – you can’t have too much sunshine and smiles!
